Cleanroom Fan Filter Unit Options

Clean Air Products' clean room FFUs are self-contained units that utilize HEPA filtration technology. Multiple options, including 0.3-micron or 0.12-micron filtration, are available to meet your specific cleanroom needs.

CAP119 Motorized Ceiling Fan Filter Units 

CAP119 cleanroom fan filter units from Clean Air Products are energy-efficient, self-powered modules with integral backward-curved blower/motor assemblies. Designed for use in T-bar ceiling grid systems, these low-profile fan filters are easy to install in applications where overhead space is limited. Available in a range of sizes and efficiencies, these units are well suited for Class 100,000 to Class 10 cleanrooms.

Standard mini-pleated HEPA filters are 99.99% efficient in removing particles of 0.3 microns or larger. Filter media is nonflammable.

CAP116 Vertical Flow Fan Cleanroom Air Filters 

Our CAP116 fan filters are designed to be suspended from a ceiling or mounted on a frame. Filter, blower, and lights are easily serviceable from the front, making these fan filter units ideal for applications where ceiling access is unavailable. Prefilters can be positioned on the top or front of the unit.

The standard HEPA final filter is 99.99% efficient at removing particles of 0.3 microns or larger. Optional ULPA filters that provide 99.999% efficiency for particles of 0.12 microns and larger are also available.

What is a HEPA fan filter unit?

A HEPA fan filter unit is a self-contained module with a blower, a motor, and a HEPA filter in one housing. It pulls air through the top-mounted prefilter and pushes clean air back into the space. Our HEPA filters remove up to 99.99% of particles of 0.3 microns or larger. Each unit powers its own airflow, so it can be installed into a ceiling grid or hung from a frame.

What is the difference between a HEPA fan filter unit and a ULPA fan filter unit?

The difference between a HEPA FFU and a ULPA FFU is filter efficiency. A HEPA fan filter unit removes up to 99.99% of particles of 0.3 microns or larger. A ULPA fan filter unit is rated at 99.999% for particles of 0.12 microns and larger. HEPA filters are standard on our units, and ULPA is an available upgrade. Where are cleanroom fan filter units installed?

Most FFUs go into the ceiling structure of the cleanroom. Our CAP119 motorized ceiling unit is built for T-bar ceiling grid systems, so it works in rooms with limited overhead space. Our CAP116 vertical flow unit hangs from a ceiling or mounts on a frame.

What ISO class can a cleanroom fan filter unit support?

The CAP119 suits Class 100,000 through Class 10 cleanrooms under Federal Standard 209E. Those classes correspond to roughly ISO 8 through ISO 4. The class you reach depends on the number of units, ceiling coverage, and room layout. Our industry standards pages explain the particle limits for each ISO class.
